Charlie MacGregor, Founder and CEO
With decades of experience amongst them, our Management Team is made up of the heads of all departments. Their job is to translate the global strategy to their different teams, ensuring that that it is executed throughout the company.
CHIEF CUSTOMER OFFICER
Apurva joins from InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) as TSH’s first chief customer officer. He takes responsibility for digital, social and performance marketing, and aims to create a global centre of excellence for TSH. At IHG he was responsible for the commercial performance of nearly 700 hotels and also led sales, marketing, revenue management, loyalty, distribution and digital. He is also a former McKinsey & Co consultant, having worked with Qantas, Delta Airlines and Starbucks.
Chief Brand Officer
Jason is promoted to chief brand officer overseeing the new Brand and Innovation department. Jason has been an integral part of TSH for more than two years and his new brief is to increase brand awareness through PR and social media, brand communications, partnerships and the total guest experience. Jason’s team will work closely with the performance marketing and operations teams to ensure TSH’s Complete Connected Community philosophy has a consistent voice, feel and emotion. TSH Experience Design team, an in-house creative studio is integrated in this Brand and Innovation team.
Chief financial officer
Nicolas joined TSH two years ago and brought with him more than 15 years of experience, particularly in Asian and European markets. He oversees corporate finance, financial analysis and planning for operational locations and properties under development. As a business partner to senior management and stakeholders, Nicolas’ team of 30, which is spread across HQ and two regional hubs, provides a foundation to enable hyper growth in a sustainable way, anticipating financing needs, and advising on efficiencies.

Since 2015 Joost has led the operations and sales & revenue management of TSH, overseeing every aspect of each new location, from opening to its establishment, operational efficiency and revenue targets. With a background in hospitality from Accor, IHG and Hilton, and experience in most European countries, Joost’s role has evolved and his priorities focus on delivering over five openings a year, managing quality excellence and delivering the TSH guest experience.
Director of real estate development
For the past three years Rienk has helped identify, acquire and bring to life new TSH co-living and co-working properties. In his role as director of real estate development he will lead a team of 20 to oversee a six-fold increase in hotel openings across the next five years. Rienk has vast experience renovating large-scale projects including unloved properties that become sustainable TSH hybrid enterprises and regenerate neighbourhoods.
Chief digital and experience officer
Mark joins as chief digital and experience officer, with a brief to define a digitally led experience strategy; design, assemble and activate all technology services; and manage the delivery of global customer platforms. The former Hilton CMO Asia Pacific will create a world-leading digital ecosystem to bring to life the Complete Connected Community. An award-winning marketer and Global 40 under 40, Mark brings a wealth of experience including the launch of the world’s first 4G network and devices, digitally integrated Retail Store of the Year and mobile CX platforms, while partnering with Apple, Samsung, Sony, Google, ZTE and Tencent.
Consisting of the CEO, Managing Director, Partnership Director and Head of Investments, our Executive team is responsible for the company’s global strategy. Together, they shape the direction of The Student Hotel — where it will be next week, next year and beyond.
Founder and CEO
After coming up with the original idea, Charlie founded The Student Hotel by launching the first building in Belgium. After securing multiple investments and successfully scaling the formula, today he’s the CEO of a multinational company that’s redefining student living, hospitality and coworking in leading cities around Europe. Led by his mission to make the world a better place, he’s growing an international Complete Connected Community of co-living and co-working guests who inspire and learn from each other.
Felix is the enabler of TSH’s hyper growth business plan. Having spearheaded the group’s transition from a one-location start-up through its fast growth phrase, in which it grew to 11 properties in five countries, Felix is poised to lead the new management team. His team will create a scalable model and processes to ensure the delivery of 65 properties in five years.
Frank is the Director of Partnerships for TSH, leading the company’s mission to establish a global connected community, powered by the introduction of the TSH Life app and the TSH Ambassadors and Connectors programme. He understands policy makers, education providers and real estate developers — all while speaking their different languages and translating between them. This passion for planning and connections also led him to co-found ‘The Class of 2020’ in 2011. The initiative’s goal is improve the quality of student living throughout Europe by bringing people together at events and partnering with higher education officials, city leaders and developers.
Director of Investments
With a decade of experience as an Investment Director and analyst, Denis is the perfect person to lead TSH in maintaining continuous growth backed by reputable investors. While he isn’t afraid to take a risk or two, he’s also incredibly driven and optimistic — something that comes in handy when ensuring that investors are aligned with the company’s vision. Together with his team, he enables TSH to secure the right locations, deals, partners and banks in order to build the hospitality business of the future.
