Hang out for a round or two at the bar of The Commons on the ground floor across the reception. The bar is opened from 10.00am until 11.00pm from Sunday to Wednesday and from 10.00am until 12.00am from Thursday until Sunday.
Cycling is by far the best way to get around in Rotterdam. You can rent yourself a cool Van Moof design bike at the hotel.
Breakfast is always a good idea! Book in advance and pay less. A healthy and balanced selection of morning favourites, including breakfast sandwich, homemade pastry, fresh fruit, juice and tea or coffee.

On the day of your departure please check-out before 12:00 (noon). At The Student Hotel you do not need to officially check-out with one of our staff. Just drop your key at the reception desk and that’s it. We are happy to store your luggage (see “Luggage” for more info) so you can wander around the city for another couple of hours before you leave.

We care about the environment like nothing else — that’s why we offer bi-daily cleaning at this hotel. In an effort to cut down on the water, detergent and energy we use, both your room and towels will be cleaned once every two days. The same goes for your bed linen — we come in to clean them every fourth day. For Short Stay reservations we follow a weekly cleaning policy. If you want extra or daily cleaning, or if you need fresh towels, that’s no problem — just get in touch with reception and we’ll set you up.
If you put the “Do-not-disturb-my-beauty-nap” sign on the outside handle of your room door, housekeeping will comply. You will enjoy the extra rest, but your room will have to forgo beautification. For safety purposes, we will have to check your room if the “Do-not-disturb-my-beauty-nap” sign is on your door for more than 24 hours.
Possession (or being under the influence) of illegal substances, drugs and weapons on the hotel premises will lead to immediate eviction. In such cases, the payment obligation for the agreed term of your stay will still apply. The Student Hotel will notify the responsible authorities. We do this because we love you!

Doesn’t our courtyard look so inviting? Go ahead, venture outside, have a drink, play some hoops or just hang out. For the sake of other guests, please keep noise and general nuisance to a minimum, especially between 11:00pm and 09:30am. Please do not smoke within 3 meters from the main entrance.
The magic number is… 220 Volts. Travel Adaptors are available at the reception and/or the vending machines.
Use the emergency exit doors in case of emergency only. All emergency exit doors are monitored by CCTV and alarm systems.
For safety reasons, the front door of the hotel will not open automatically after 23:00. You will need to use your electronic room key to enter. Please do not grant other people access with your key.

Our gym is located in the basement. Please use a towel and wear a shirt (yes, you too, guy with the really hot abs). Our gym is monitored by CCTV. Please keep the gym clean and tidy. Use of the gym is at your own responsibility and risk. For safety reasons, children under the age of 16 are not allowed to access the gym.
Personal use hair dryers are available in the rooms.

Wireless internet is available in the entire hotel and free of charge. To use our Wi-Fi please select the “TSH Guest” network. If you are using our hotel Wi-Fi for the first time, you will need to register.
Your key card provides access to your room and public areas. Please do not forget to take your key card with you when you leave your room. If you lose your key, please notify our hotel reception staff immediately so we can block your lost key.
Some of our rooms are equipped with a private kitchenette. If your room has a private kitchenette and you would like to cook, please feel free to pick up utensils at reception.
A guest laundry facility is located in the basement of the main building. You can pay by coins or €5 and €10 bills. The detergents are automatically dispensed by the laundry system. Our laundry is equipped with irons and iron boards which you can use free of charge. Please use our irons in the laundry room and do not take them up to your room.

We are happy to provide flat screen TVs, pool tables, ping pong, a fully-equipped gym and an extensive library and study area for your enjoyment. Keep in mind that the study area and library are silent areas.

The following information is provided for your safety in the event of a fire. Please take a moment to get familiar with the locations of the fire extinguishers and the fire escape plans upon arrival at the hotel. Floor plans are located in the corridors near every emergency exit and on each room door. For your safety, the hotel is equipped with fire/smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and fire hoses. Their locations are indicated on the evacuation floor plans in your room and in the corridors. Our staff is trained to handle emergency situations. In case of an emergency situation please always follow their instructions.

An alarm will go off in case of an emergency. When the alarm sounds we urge you to leave the hotel immediately via one of the emergency exits. The emergency exits are clearly marked by the green ‘EXIT’ signs and can be opened easily with a push bar. Please note that the lifts are not in use during an emergency situation – you will have to use the emergency stairs. The evacuation plan and a summary of our house rules can be found on the inside of your room door.

3. Attempt to contain and extinguish the fire yourself if possible with the nearest fire extinguisher;
4. Leave the building via the stairs and emergency exits and meet at the street at Willem Ruyslaan.

Anybody who manipulates the smoke detectors/ fire alarm systems in any way is violating the law and will be instructed to leave the hotel immediately. Additional costs will be charged (a.o. damage, fine by the fire department) and you might be prosecuted by law. Please understand that we need to be very strict on this.

When you enter the room please put your key in the energy saver and leave it there. Only then you’ll have electricity in your room. When you leave the room, pull out the key and take it with you. Electric plugs (for charging batteries etc) will keep working.
This system provides fresh air, heating and cooling. The room temperature can be adjusted with the thermostat in your room. The display shows the actual temperature. When you push the + or – button the display will show the desired temperature. With the fan buttons you can change the level of air hich flows into your room. With the on/off button you can switch off the installation. Please note that the heating/cooling system only functions when the windows in your room are closed and when your key is in the energy saver.
To contact the reception push the upper button of the intercom for 5 seconds without picking up the handset. The reception will call you back. Pick up the handset to speak. When you’re done, please put back the handset. The other button has no function. Visitors outside at the main entrance can call your room directly. Pick up the handset to talk to your visitor. For safety reason you’ll have to walk down to open the front door yourself.
To turn on the TV push the TV power button (black button in left hand corner). It will take a few seconds to turn on.
The navigation arrows are used to highlight the Features on the system. The navigation arrows can be used to move up or down to select the required feature, the current feature selected will be highlighted.
The Ok Button is used to select the highlighted option.
The TV Guide button displays scheduling information for current and upcoming TV programming.
Buttons can be used to view the TV guide for the next 7 days.
Users can control the volume of the system by using the volume up and down buttons

From Rotterdam Central Station, take tram 21 or 24 for 13 minutes, and get off after 8 stops at “Willem Ruyslaan”. The Student Hotel is right next to the tram station.
From Schiphol, take an Intercity train to “Rotterdam Blaak” and get off. Change to tram 21 (in the direction of De Esch) and get off after 3 stations at “Willem Ruyslaan”.
The Student Hotel is right next to the tram station! The whole trip takes around 50 minutes.
Daytime: Take tram 21/24 to Rotterdam Central Station. There you can catch a train to ‘Schiphol’ airport! Nighttime: After 00:30 you’ll need to take Bobbus 4/5 from the tramstop Willem Ruyslaan to Rotterdam Central Station. The night bus leaves once an hour to Rotterdam Central Station. From there, you can catch a train to Schiphol (the last train leaves from Rotterdam Central Station around 04:00). The other option is to take a taxi. We can call one for you!
• Tram 21 / 24 in front of the hotel take you through the center of Rotterdam to the Central Station.
• Night bus 4/5 is available when tram 21 / 24 are not riding.
