Sustainability isn’t just the right thing to do — it’s what we were meant to do.

As you
might know, The Student Hotel is a unique place attracting a diverse, international group of guests. Many of them are social globetrotters, who we offer an inspiring open environment to connect, make friends, to inspire and learn, to transform and to be energized. Like our guests, we’re students at heart and will be students for life.

Adventure and curiosity are in our DNA — we love to empower, to challenge and be challenged and to transform the world. We aim for the stars and facilitate positive change brought forward by the TSH community.

Sustainability is not just the right thing to do – it’s what we were meant to do. Together with our guests, we aim to continuously contribute to a better world and make our society prosper. We connect with our guests and communities because we believe that people, planet, profit, and purpose are key to what we stand for as a sustainable business. We lead by example in creating value for our communities. We’re constantly thinking about the future, being increasingly passionate about what we can achieve together — that’s why we connect our ambitions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

We study and stimulate sustainable and conscious behaviour — in order to minimize the ecological footprint of our buildings and processes we implement and improve smart innovations. That’s why we come up with initiatives like Kitchen Heroes, a system that rewards students who limit food waste and educate their peers about using the shared kitchen correctly. We implemented intelligent systems and we partner with universities like WUR and TU Delft to maximize our efforts.

All in all, our goal is to keep minimizing our footprint together with our guests, aiming for a 40 percent residual waste reduction by 2019 and a completely waste-free F&B by 2021. We’re transparent about the things we do, how we do them and what we want to achieve so that at the end of the day we can enjoy life without being a burden to the planet. Join us!
