So, now that AVROTROS has decided where we’ll be spending May 2020, let’s dive into the top things to do in Rotterdam during the Eurovision Song Contest, besides screaming on the top of your lungs at the AHOY concert hall.
We’ve explained earlier why we love this city and its vibrant personality and Dutch charm – and there are plenty of places to enjoy the vibe during the festivities! Whether you’re planning to party or looking for a tasty hangover brunch, here are a few of our favourite spots for dancing, dining and partying in Rotterdam!
Duncan Laurence’s Rotterdam
Last year’s Eurovision winner, Duncan Laurence, was born and raised in the outskirts of Rotterdam. Naturally, he’s been rooting for this city from day one. Chances are you might run into him during the festivities.
Whilst you’re in Rotterdam, keeping your eyes out for Duncan, you must visit the iconic Euromast! It’s the highest building of the city with an out-of-this-world bird’s eye view – we see you Duncan Laurence – On a clear day you can even see as far as the city of Antwerp. And did we mention it has an amazing restaurant and cocktail bar?
If you want to embrace your wild side, check out De Regenboog. This LGBT bar dedicates its entire space to the Eurovision Song Contest for a whole week, including an epic karaoke contest! You can also drop by Worm, a performance-powered bar located a short walk from Witte de Withstraat. There’s never a dull minute!
By now, you’ve earned a bite to eat. Make your way over to a “kapsalon” for some authentic local hangover cuisine. Even Rotterdam’s Central Station is named after this dish, and no trip to The Netherlands is complete without it.
Party in style
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! There’s enough going on to cater to all – from themed parties and crazy bars to tasty brunches and must-visit museums.
Of course, in true TSH style, we’ll be hosting our own events around the festival in Rotterdam and at our other hotels as well. And we promise they’re going to be memorable! Curious? Sign up for our special edition newsletter dedicated to all Eurovision related news and we’ll keep you in the loop!
