International Women’s Day

Celebrating the achievements of women in society

March 8th marks International Women’s Day: a global day celebrating the social- economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. In 2018, The Student Hotel hosted a special Breakfast BedTalks to both celebrate and reflect on women’s developments in society in light of this year’s campaign #BalanceforBetter. What drove these women to start their own business, to innovate and change the way the industry works, or to create equal opportunities for others? What are their aspirations? And do they feel that their gender influences their opportunities and/or successes for example? Or that the awareness of the gender balance is changing for the better?

For this BedTalks edition, we invited three inspiring women to share their stories of how they change the status quo by raising awareness and going off the beaten path: Mariah Mansvelt Beck (Co-Founder Yoni), Marlot Kiveron (CSR Manager Ace & Tate), and Arine Huijboom (Founder NetwerkPro). They are ambitious, creative and not afraid to tell it like it is. Together, these women dove into their work and engaged in conversation with the audience to explore what it means to #BalanceforBetter.
